I Pose A Question To My Readers

The following were post on the CCC:

But I have to pose this question to the "Powers that be"...why does there always have to be drama and turmoil with this administration? -cubette

What drama and turmoil? The Mayor or someone in his administration terminated an employee. It happens in organizations all over our city, state and country every day. The only drama I've seen so far has been what we have created here...-Quasar

I'll start with the physical altercation he had with his wife for starters.-Me

bs... we are discussing today's topic on this thread. So far the only drama that I'm seeing is being created by people that are intent on creating drama. Some people feed off of it... the choice is yours...-Quasar

So what do you think?  Was this appropriate response?   The original post was that this just another incident in a line of them.

I'll tell you this I went to work in Louisville the day after that incident and there was plenty of laughing going on at Jeffersonville expense.

I encourage everyone's thoughts below.   Including Quasar and GG who I know stop by from time to time.

(Note: This NOT a bash the CCC thread for the sake of bashing people with opposing political views.  If have a thought on this as being a running theme in protecting someone, leave it at that)

  1. I don't get it, JAML. Of course discussing a record is relevant when a new 'dramatic' event arises. Also, on GAWnews, I can't really remember checking someone for going 'off topic' I think conversations are freewheeling and the only requirement I have is that it be interesting and fun. (Not really a 'requirement') but...over there you have a lot of rules and regulermations to follow for the all and the many....except for a few.

    1. My point exactly. I didn't bring it up until someone stated that there had not been any drama.

  2. I don't think the Chatter can protect the current administration anymore, but still make feeble attempts to try to. This administration has become so notorious that what's said or not allowed to be said on the Chatter really doesn't matter anymore. It's beyond the them at this point. So yes I understand the frustration but it's just a matter of time now.

  3. It's got nothing to do with protecting MM and everything to do with trying to keep the Chatter a good place for discussions. Discussions lose their effectiveness when they are muddied with past incidents, future "maybes"...when they bounce all over the place, going off topic.

The time to rehash all of the MM issues members have will be when he is running for mayor in a couple of years. Constantly bringing up older issues, having the same tired old discussions repeatedly, may backfire on those who wish MM gone...people who read the stuff may become immune to it all. Tired of it, bored with it. Might be thinking jeez, that's old news, what about now?

What you see as protecting MM is nothing more than taking our responsibility to the Chatter seriously...maybe too seriously in your mind, but we are the ones who have to answer for the site, keep it up for the members. While we do want the site to be entertaining and fun, we do not advertise ourselves as a cartoon site, and it's not the same as an individual blog, where one person shares his/her opinions.

I challenge you...if you think you can handle a forum better than we do, start your own.

  4. Great... more bullshit...

Since you have framed this discussion to support your position, you may have left out a couple of important pieces.

You stated here that "The original post was that this just another incident in a line of them." This is not true, the OP posted the title thread of "Moore Fires City Controller". The OP spoke specifically about that topic. It had nothing to do about this being another incident in a line of them.

You also failed to mention that in a post in that thread I specifically invited you to start another thread about all of MM's issues. Of course it's harder to make the "Chatter protects Moore" argument when I invited you to open a thread to discuss all of the issues you have.

I don't care if you want to whine and bitch about the Chatter... just man up and don't lie about it.

Beyond that... GG summed it up pretty well.

    1. I had no intention or interest in bringing up past incidents. I don't think I had even posted on that thread until you posted that there was no previous drama. I then took the opportunity remind him there had been.

  5. JAML, may I? You will never get the answers you want from GG and Quasar, trust me. They will never admit that they are biased or unfair. Not gonna happen. I would have more respect for people if they would just admit that they really like Mike Moore and do not like to hear bad things about him, so they will stifle others who they feel cross the line with their favorite Mayor. You will also never get either of them to admit they allow "certain" posters to cross that line, especially with other members who are not Moore fans. You will get the same old lines about how hard it is to run a forum, how they try to keep their forum a decent place to come, how if you don't like the terms (the way they interpret them) you can go elsewhere. In other words JAML, you would do better just to spend more time here where you can project your own thoughts and allow others to project theirs. Case in point, do you think you would have been allowed on the CCC if you were to use the profanity that Quasar so freely used on your site? But, I would venture to guess you will not ban him. Let them have their fun JAML, it makes them feel important and powerful, some people need that. God Bless.

  6. Just remember folks, if someone gets a DUI and it turns out it's their fourth, the previous 3 are not relevant to the the discussion of the fourth.

  7. Maybe not in a Court of Law, but we are talking about a little local forum. Nice try with deflection there though. ;)

    1. Actually, you miss understood me. I was saying that it absolutely is relevant and to dismiss a pattern of behavior is ridiculous.

Sorry, probably should have done a better job at pointing out my sarcasm.

  8. Not quite as little as your try at a local forum, Lisa.

  9. Well, I did not have to pay lots of money to have my forum darlin. I also did not have to solicit people for contributions or sell ads to keep up my forum. I guess if I wanted to put all that effort and money into it, maybe I would have been a rock star Administrator(s) like you!! Oh, and one other thing, guess I just don't have that "dictator" desire in me. So, keep up the good work. ;)
